Save NHS Holistic Care from Extinction!
'Homeopathy Heals Me'

7 AUG 2016
— CALL TO FORMER & CURRENT PATIENTS & SUPPORTERS TO HELP SAVE NHS CENTRE OF INTEGRATIVE CARE & THE ONLY UK HOLISTIC IN-PATIENT INTEGRATIVE CARE WARD FROM CLOSURE

Please continue to help us and show your support by leaving positive online comments under the recent press articles in support of continued access to NHS Holistic Care at the NHS Centre for Integrative Care (formerly Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital) and write to the decision makers.

Thank you for helping us to exceed 40,000 signatures on this Petition but please don't be complacent, as we definitely need many more signatures and for people to complete tasks to help the campaign, such as letters to Ministers, MSPs and other decision makers. We need to personally send a plea to them to step in and make a positive decision to secure the long-term future of the in-patient ward of the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital (CIC) for continued access to NHS holistic care. Please continue to share this petition and these updates by email via your social media, circulating to all your contacts and networks, and encourage them to also share, pass on, and help us spread the word to assist in our campaign. We must stand shoulder to shoulder, no matter where we live, in opposing these plans or we are likely to lose access to NHS holistic care in the UK completely.

We were fortunate to get some national coverage of the story (see below) about the cuts that NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board is making for their £70 million deficit and how the CIC will be affected. However we all know if we lose access to the in-patient integrative care unit at the CIC, this will be a false economy and will certainly cost the NHS Health Board much more in the long term.

The NHS CIC achieves very positive outcomes with a patient cohort that is normally very difficult and extremely costly to treat, as it allows support for some of the most seriously ill, complex and vulnerable patients in Scotland. The ward is important so that patients can be admitted to the in-patient unit for continuous care and access to treatments and therapies, if clinicians deem it necessary. This ensures intensive holistic assessment and is also backed up by nursing staff in this unique and innovative model of care, which consistently achieves very high patient satisfaction ratings, as high as 100% in some studies.

If you are a former or current patient of the NHS Centre of Integrative Care, have at any time been an in-patient or out-patient, or have a loved one or family member who has been treated at this hospital, we urgently need you to help us by writing to the main decision makers to tell them how you have benefited from attending this hospital.

If you have ever been a patient in the in-patient ward at anytime in the past or present, we need you to focus on why this approach has been important in helping you. Concentrate on what the NHS has saved in GP and other appointments or procedures that you have avoided, and savings achieved due to reductions in medications. Also how your quality of life has improved, skills that you have learned, so that you are better able to understand and accept your condition and self-manage it.

Remember this model of care is totally unique and very, very different from the bio-medical model used elsewhere, so you will need to explain the difference in attending other NHS facilities compared to being referred to the NHS CIC.

WRITE TO INFORM DECISION MAKERS WHY THIS MODEL OF CARE PROVIDED AT THE NHS CIC & ACCESS TO IN-PATIENT BEDS, ARE NECESSARY & SHOULD BE RETAINED: (The same letter can be emailed to all).

PATIENT OPINION:  www.patientopinion.org.uk

PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW OF CARE EXPERIENCED AT NHS CIC:
This website is like trip adviser for hospitals! If you have been an in-patient or out-patient at the NHS Centre for Integrative Care, please take a few moments to leave your review on the Patient Opinion website. You can go to www.patientopinion.org.uk and submit your story www.patientopinion.org.uk/youropinion

At present, we do not have many people sharing their stories about the positive care that they have received at the NHS CIC, which is a real pity. So please try to share your story of why this hospital has helped you, regardless of whether you have received in-patient or out-patient care. However given that the in-patient unit is currently under threat, if you have ever been a patient in the ward, please focus on why this approach was important to your care.

These stories could make all the difference in helping the campaign to try to save the ward from closure and also demonstrate to the staff what a good job they are doing, as their morale is obviously very low at this difficult time, with threats to the future of the ward of the ongoing unique model of care delivered at the hospital. You can also check out a few of the stories that have been submitted to the site about the NHS CIC. www.patientopinion.org.uk/opinions?nacs=G507H

MEDIA UPDATE OF DEMONSTRATION BY MEMBERS OF NHS CIC CAMPAIGN TEAM

We held a successful Demonstration on 4th August, prior to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde 's Annual Review and we got good coverage in the national press and radio. Please help us by leaving a positive online comment underneath the various articles reporting on the NHS CIC and the demonstration (links copied below). Also submit letters to newspaper letter pages (details below) about the positive care you have experienced. It is quite obvious that many of the negative comments are from our detractors who are sceptical about this approach and certainly do not know anything about the model of care delivered at the NHS CIC or the very positive benefits to patients. Please therefore leave comments about your positive experiences about the hospital and ensure that a more accurate representation is recognised by celebrating what the hospital achieves by being a Centre of Excellence in the provision of exemplary NHS care for patients with long-term, chronic and often incurable degenerative conditions. Many of those referred to the NHS CIC, have found the current conventional bio-medical approach has not helped them, and many have exhausted all other orthodox treatments available, and therefore totally rely on the NHS CIC ward and other services. So please don't let this 'lifeline' and 'vital service' be taken away from the people who benefit from this approach to care and will continue to need access.

HOMEOPATHY FOR SPORT

9/8/2016

It's the Olympics time again...
Many sports men & women use homeopathy to help with sports injuries & general well-being.
Usain Bolt, Olympic sprinter & famed winner of numerous gold medals has been using homeopathy since the age of 16. He is a patient of German sports doctor Hans-Wilheim Muller-Wohifahrt who uses homeopathy at his Munich clinic.
Bolt was born with scoliosis, a curvature of the lower spine, which makes him more susceptible to back pain and injuries.
Dr Müller-Wohlfahrt is a world leader in the treatment of sports injuries.
“He is well-known for his holistic approach. Though conventionally trained in medicine & orthopaedics, his treatment includes manual diagnostics, as well as herbal & homeopathic remedies & acupuncture. Other  famous patients include Paula Radcliffe, Kelly Holmes, Tyson Gay, Ronaldo, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and Boris Becker. He is also the team doctor for the German national football team and FC Bayern München.”

HOMEOPATHY & ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE

2/8/2016

An Open Letter From Concerned Physicians Regarding Antibiotic Resistance
America and the world face a crisis
It is now estimated that antibiotic resistant infections may kill an estimated 10 million people a year and cost the world’s economies some $100 trillion annually1 by the year 2050. Dr. Margaret Chan of the World Health Organization has recently stated that Earth may be approaching a time “when things as common as strep throat or a child’s scratched knee could once again kill.”
Solutions to this looming crisis must be found and found quickly. As some of America’s leading integrative medicine specialists, we believe it is time to look anew at a modality called homeopathic medicine.
Why homeopathic medicine?
As physicians, we are the first to acknowledge that the diagnostic and surgical tools of conventional medicine are scientific marvels - truly extraordinary and life saving. However, it is also a well-documented fact that many of the drugs currently used by conventional medicine carry risks that are often unacceptable, and in the case of bacterial infections – increasingly ineffective.
Signatories, and tens of thousands of our medical colleagues around the world, have repeatedly used homeopathic medicine to effectively and safely treat patients with a wide range of ailments, including serious, and in some cases, life threatening bacterial and viral infections, without the risk of creating further drug resistant organisms. We reached our decision to employ these medicines after careful experimentation and observation, in search of a drug system that relieved suffering without potential toxic side and after-effects.
Why are we recommending consideration of homeopathic medicine?
Let’s start by looking at what we know about it today.
Homeopathic medicine is a 200-year-old system of medicine used by an estimated 500 million people worldwide2. The system relies on medicines made from individual plants, animals and minerals that are serially diluted and vigorously agitated during the manufacturing process. Twelve independent research laboratories in North America, Russia, Europe and Asia have now confirmed that all classically-prepared homeopathic medicines studied contain various nanostructures, including source and silica nanoparticles which are heterogeneously dispersed in colloidal solution 3 4 5 6. The above mentioned laboratories and others have found that homeopathic medicines, like modern engineered nanoparticles, have been found to act by modulating biological function of the allostatic stress response network, including cytokines, oxidative stress and heat shock proteins 7,8. Additionally, there are hundreds of peer-reviewed studies including randomly controlled trials and large observational studies on individual cells, plants, animals and humans, that show homeopathic medicines are exceptionally safe and have measurable and positive biological and therapeutic effects9.
Reliable and extensive clinical and public health records have also been carefully examined internationally, looking for evidence of homeopathic medicine’s efficacy during some of the deadliest epidemics of the past 200 years. The main findings of this research show that when homeopathic medicine was employed during these deadly events, mortality rates were routinely very low. This constancy remained regardless of the homeopathic physician, time, place or type of epidemical disease, including diseases carrying a high mortality rate, such as cholera, smallpox, diphtheria, typhoid fever, yellow fever, influenza and pneumonia10.
Some in the medical community will have reservations about exploring the potential of homeopathic medicine to treat dangerous bacterial infections and will base their objections on two factors: (1) the idea that homeopathic medicines at potencies above 12C contain no active ingredients and, (2) a study published by Shang, et. al. in 2005.
As stated earlier – nanoscientists at 12 independent research labs have now consistently confirmed that all medicines studied contain various nanostructures, including source and silica nanoparticles which are heterogeneously dispersed in colloidal solution – making homeopathic medicine the first known form of nanomedicine. What’s more – we now know from recent discoveries in nanoscience that each remedy manufactured using traditional methods of trituration and vigorous agitation must in factcontain nanostructures. As for the Shang study – it has been repeatedly invalidated by a number of medical researchers as methodologically flawed even within an allopathic medical framework11,12,13,14,15.
Finally – we make this recommendation while knowing that many of our colleagues will feel uncomfortable using homeopathic medicine singly. As a result – we are calling for a collaborative effort to investigate the efficacy of homeopathic medicine in the treatment of patients with these increasingly dangerous infections whereby homeopathic medicine is used only as an adjunct to conventional therapies.
All physicians are bound together by a passion to serve the sick and not by a blind allegiance to any class of drug makers. In the interest of enhancing care, we must set aside tribal divisions that began in the 1840s and come together in unbiased fashion to find solutions to meet the rising tide of antibiotic resistant bacteria that may, in short order, threaten the lives of millions annually.
